FREE URBAN HIKE – Rome’s Secret Giants: Urban hike to the Aqueducts’ Park

Discover a new side of Rome with our FREE OPEN DAY urban hike! Perfect for nature lovers, history enthusiasts, and anyone looking to connect with new people, this unique experience will take you on a journey through some of Rome’s most beautiful and lesser-known areas.
Explore the fascinating “modern Aqueducts” (dating back to 1585), wander through the historic Mandrione neighborhood, and uncover the hidden ties between Roman life, nature, and the nearby volcano that shaped the landscape.
In the first half of our hike, we’ll dive into some of Rome’s most intriguing and off-the-beaten-path neighborhoods. Then, in the second half, we’ll immerse ourselves in two stunning nature parks, offering the perfect blend of urban exploration and natural beauty.
Join us for a day of discovery, connection, and adventure in the heart of Rome!
Where: Start in Pigneto (the exact meeting point will be announced after confirmation)
When: Friday, November 1 @9.30am
Time: about 3 hours (the exact time varies, depending on weather conditions and participants)

This is a professional activity in accordance with European Union legislation and Italian law no. 4 dating to 2003.
Sal is a professional guide enrolled in the register of the Italian Association of Interpretive Nature Guides – AIGAE.
What should you bring?
Obligatory: Comfortable walking shoes (no flip flops), 1 liters of water (there will be water fountains along the way), clothing suited for an outdoor hike
Recommended: Comfortable backpack, raincoat, sunscreen, hat (protection from both sun and rain), trail snacks, tickets for public transport
Optional: Hiking poles, electrolytes, sunglasses

Who is the guide?
Sal, a certified outdoor guide (member of AIGAE), leads this tour. He’s also a former Komoot route editor and a National Geographic Day Tour guide. His mission is to make information about the Italian outdoors and wilderness experiences accessible to everyone and to promote a healthier lifestyle and connection with nature.
