Saturday we visit the small town in Abruzzo called Tagliacozzo, and explore the forest trails and views around the city. It’s a moderate hike, you should have hiking prior hiking experience.
Start in Tagliacozzo, make your way up to the Church of Calvario for the first views. Continue uphill, past a forest and in direction of an area known as “Little Switzerland”. Along the way we view the surroundings through the eyes of artists who visited this place in the past, such as Edward Lear.
Where: Tagliacozzo (the exact meeting point will be announced after confirmation)
When: Saturday, October 26th @10.05am (train departs from Tiburtina at 8.10am)
Duration: about 4.5 hours

ℹ️ Difficulty Level: Medium (Distance: 9km, elevation gain: 320m, includes rocky and uneven terrain, possibly some river crossings in shallow water)
ℹ️ The final duration of the hiking event and the itinerary may vary, depending on weather conditions, unexpected obstacles (e.g. a fallen tree along the way), or other safety reasons. It is at the discretion of the professional hiking guide to determine alternatives or to shorten or extend the experience.

What should you bring?
Obligatory: Hiking boots, 1.5 liters of water, clothing suited for an outdoor hike, backpack, bring your own hiking lunch
Recommended: Comfortable backpack, raincoat, sunscreen, hat (protection from both sun and rain), trail snacks, tickets for public transport
Optional: Hiking poles, electrolytes, sunglasses

Sal, a certified outdoor guide (member of AIGAE), leads this tour. He’s also a former Komoot route editor and a National Geographic Day Tour guide. His mission is to make information about the Italian outdoors and wilderness experiences accessible to everyone and to promote a healthier lifestyle and connection with nature.
