As part of the ongoing World Ocean Week (8 June marks World Ocean Day), Ostia Clean-Up is organizing a beach clean-up day in Ostia this Saturday. You can contribute to a better state of the ocean by joining this free of charge event.
We are a group of young people born and raised in Ostia who share a deep respect for the sea and the environment. We believe in an ecological and sustainable future, which is why we offer innovative solutions with the aim of addressing environmental problems such as plastic pollution and climate change, in order to safeguard our territory and the planet.
In Italy every year more than 30 million tons of waste are produced, many of which are dispersed in natural ecosystems. For this reason, once a month, we equip ourselves with gloves, pliers, bags and nets to clean up as much waste as possible from the beaches, parks and pine forest of our neighborhood. Participating is very simple: just stay up to date on our social pages about the place and time of the appointment, we’ll take care of the rest!
Workshops and Events
We believe it is essential to integrate the practical action of clean-ups with theoretical notions regarding the current climate and ecological crisis. For this reason, paying particular attention to the younger generations, since the autumn of 2019 we have been going to schools and companies in the city to conduct environmental seminars and workshops. At the same time, we participate in events and events organized by other entities in the area, with the aim of creating a social network and involving even more people in the world of sustainability.
