Discover Rome Art Week, a celebration of contemporary art that takes place from October 23rd to 28th in Rome. This event will transform Rome into an art lover’s paradise with nearly two hundred galleries and institutions showcasing the works of 468 talented artists.
The program is packed with creativity, offering 80 exciting events, 93 captivating exhibitions, and 112 open studios. Rome Art Week is now in its eighth edition, and what’s even more fantastic is that the event is entirely free. It provides a comprehensive map of contemporary art throughout the capital, and visitors can embark on guided tours divided by zones and thematic areas. These tours will allow you to explore not only the artistic gems of the historic center but also the vibrant neighborhoods of Garbatella and San Lorenzo.
What sets Rome Art Week apart is its inclusivity. It’s not just about the well-established art galleries; it’s a platform for emerging artists, art associations, and collaborations with both Italian and foreign public institutions. This artistic extravaganza features iconic venues like the Angelica Library, the Roman Aquarium, Villa Medici, and the Cervantes Institute.
You’ll find events in every district of Rome, ensuring that the entire city can partake in this cultural celebration. Giulia Silvia Ghia, the Culture Councillor of the I District, highlights the importance of making residents fall in love with their city all over again. While Rome’s historic center is beloved by millions of tourists, it’s time to inspire locals, especially the younger generation, to care for their city. Rome Art Week aims to reignite this connection.
One of the highly anticipated events of Rome Art Week takes place at Villa Altieri, where Ukrainian artist Aljoscha and Russian artist Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov will come together to create ‘Beyond the Clouds.’ This installation is a product of their collaboration, full of meaning, expressive power, and the ability to connect with the audience.
