About Hummustown
Hummustown is a non-profit organization founded with the aim of providing a decent income for Syrian refugees seeking asylum in Italy. The project was launched in 2018, thanks to the ambitious vision of Shaza Saker, who was born in Damascus to Syrian parents and has been a resident of Rome for over 40 years.
As the number of Syrian refugees has declined over the years, Hummustown has adapted its mission to support other vulnerable communities, including refugees from various countries, victims of domestic abuse and violence, and economically marginalized Italians.
They have three locations where you can enjoy authentic Syrian cuisine: Hummustown Restaurant in Ostiense, Hummustown Bistrot near Circo Massimo, and Hummustown Kiosk at Piazza della Repubblica. In addition to serving delicious food, they also host wine tastings, organize social activities and initiatives to feed the homeless in Rome.
