Metro A’s Temporary Schedule and Shuttle Details in Rome

Posted on December 4th, 2023

by Adriana ruiz

From April 8th, from Sunday to Thursday, the last runs of Metro A trains from Battistini and Anagnina termini will be at 9:00 pm. Starting from 8:45 pm, the substitute bus line called “MA” will be active, covering the entire route of Metro A. Up to 76 buses will be utilized depending on the period and time slot.

On Fridays and Saturdays, the metro schedule remains unchanged, and the last runs are at 1:30 am from the termini. Subsequently, as customary, the nMA night bus line will be operational throughout the night.

After 9:00 pm, at Termini, certain entrances to the station will be closed, specifically those identified by codes T2, T3, T4, and T5 located in the commercial forum, corner with Via Cavour, and in Piazza dei Cinquecento near the square’s renovation site. To access Metro B, passengers can utilize entrances T1 and T6 located respectively inside the railway station below the ticket machines area and T6 located in Piazza dei Cinquecento behind the bus terminus.

For passengers traveling on Metro C, upon arrival at San Giovanni after 9:15 pm (the time of the last Metro A train transit heading towards the center), it is recommended to use the exit at Largo Brindisi/Viale Castrense, which is closest to the MA bus stop heading towards Battistini.

VITTORIO STATION CLOSED: From April 8th to June 30th, Vittorio Emanuele station will be closed for maintenance of the traction systems, and trains will not stop there. Passengers are advised to use the nearby Manzoni station as an alternative, which is approximately 400 meters from Vittorio station. It can be reached via a pedestrian path or by using bus line 360 for one stop. Alternatively, passengers can use Termini metro station reachable by lines 5-14-105-360-590-649.

WORKS ON TRACTION SYSTEMS OF METRO A STATIONS: To check the status of traction systems, passengers are encouraged to consult the Metro Stations Accessibility page (atac.roma.it) before traveling. For travel assistance, please refer to the Metro A Servoscale Reservation Service page (atac.roma.it).

SHUTTLE SERVICE DETAILS: The shuttle service operates from 8:45 pm to 11:30 pm, covering the entire route of Metro A. Due to traffic reasons, the replacement service does not pass through Spagna station. Alternatively, passengers can proceed to Piazza Barberini or, using the pedestrian paths of Villa Borghese parking lot, to Via Veneto where two shuttle bus stops have been placed.

Specifically, heading north, the shuttle buses cover the Anagnina-Battistini route, make one stop, then return to Cornelia to terminate. Heading towards Anagnina, the MA bus line starts directly from Cornelia. If departing from Battistini and heading to stations beyond Cornelia, passengers can take an MA bus, and at Cornelia terminus, another bus will depart shortly for Anagnina.

These decisions were made after thorough examination of traveler data departing and arriving at Battistini, prioritizing those heading to Battistini – those returning home in the evening hours – who are more numerous than those traveling towards the center.
